A Vision for the Future
I missed the State of the Union address Wednesday night. From the post-speech news reports, it seems I didn't miss much.
From what I hear, the President has returned to his lofty rhetoric that won him last year's campaign. It seems that governing has been too difficult, so he's returning to the campaign trail early.
No, I didn't watch the spectacle. Instead, I spent time with voters at the last candidate forum of this primary season. There, yet again, I heard you voice your concerns about where our country is headed.
Despite your clear messages to Washington to stop the madness, Democrats continue to their agenda of higher taxes, more government, and fewer freedoms. Nancy Pelosi said just yesterday regarding the Democrats health care takeover,
"We will go through the gate. If the gate is closed, we will go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we will pole vault in. If that doesn't work, we will parachute in. But we are going to get health care reform passed for the American people...."
Is she serious?
Melissa Bean has abandoned her fiscally conservative roots to become a sure vote for the Nancy Pelosi agenda. I know that you agree with me that it is time to replace her.
But with who?
I'll admit, I'm not the angry candidate. Or the worried candidate. Or scared. No, actually I'm hopeful. In the last year, the American people have shown incredible resolve to stand up to the powers that be and take charge once again.
I'm running for Congress because I have a vision of what the future can be. I believe we can lower taxes, cut spending, solve our debt crisis, and be that shining city on a hill that is the envy of the world.
To get there, we have to win in November. And I am the candidate that will get the job done. I've done it four times before. And I will do it again.
This weekend is key. I need you to call every friend, family member, co-worker, neighbor, and church member living in the 8th district and ask them to vote for Maria Rodriguez on February 2.
And if you can make a donation or volunteer this weekend, that would be so helpful in these last few hours.
I'm excited about the future. I believe we can take back this Congress and get the country working again for the American people.
Join with me, and together we will win.
Onward to Victory!
