Request an Absentee Ballot
That's right, you can already register to get your ballot by mail. As of this year, Illinois law no longer requires an reason to present a request for an absentee ballot.
Ballots cannot be mailed to you any later than the Thursday before an election. Military personnel and voters outside the country may apply for a ballot earlier.
If you are in Cook County, requests for a ballot can be made via:
- Download and print the application, or
- Call the Clerk's office at (312) 603-0944 to request an application be mailed to you, or
- Pick one up at any of the Clerk's six office locations.

If you are in Lake County, requests for a ballot can be made via:
- Fill out the online form, or
- By email at VotingByMail@lakecountyil.gov, or
