Request an Absentee Ballot

Vote by MailThat's right, you can already register to get your ballot by mail.  As of this year, Illinois law no longer requires an reason to present a request for an absentee ballot.

Ballots cannot be mailed to you any later than the Thursday before an election. Military personnel and voters outside the country may apply for a ballot earlier.

If you are in Cook County, requests for a ballot can be made via:

  1. Download and print the application, or
  2. Call the Clerk's office at (312) 603-0944 to request an application be mailed to you, or
  3. Pick one up at any of the Clerk's six office locations.

If you are in Lake County, requests for a ballot can be made via:

  1. Fill out the online form, or
  2. By email at VotingByMail@lakecountyil.gov, or
  3. By calling (847)377-2406
